Many students stop applying for scholarships when the school year is over – but if you go this route, you could miss out on some great prizes! This is a great time to apply for free money, and because many students “take summer vacation”, these scholarships can sometimes be less complete. There are many summer scholarships available for high school and college students.
Here are 20 summer scholarships worth your time:
AEL Collegiate Essay Contest
Deadline: May 31
Amount: $2,500 for first place, $1,500 for second prize, $1,000 for third place winner.
Eligibility: US citizen and current undergraduate student at an accredited 4-year US college or university.
The competition awards prizes to the three best academic essay submitters each year. Educational leaders in Americanism seek to provide opportunities for students to explore, understand, and appreciate some aspects of the American experience. Essays should be between 1,500 to 2,000 words approximately.
2. Automotive Hall of Fame Scholarship
Deadline: June 30
Amount: Varies according to financial need.
Eligibility: Newcomers and undergraduate students who are pursuing automotive interests.
If you want to pursue a career in the automotive industry, applying for this scholarship is well worth your time. To apply, you will need to complete an online application, submit two letters of recommendation, and clearly express your interest in the industry.
3. Be Bold No-Essay Scholarship
Deadline: Monthly offer (June 1, July 1, August 1)
Amount: $25,050
Eligibility: High school students, community college students, college students, and graduate students
Be Bold Without Essay Scholarship is sponsored by Bold.org. The winner is chosen based on their profile, being “bold”. Administrators look for profiles that make the student appear loyal, committed, and dynamic.
The scholarship is open to high school students, community college students, college students, and graduate students, and awards $25,050 annually. Also with “be bold”, which means you can apply at any time, but the earlier you apply, the better your chances of winning. This year, the winner will be named on November 30, 2022.
4. Giving Biometrics to the Bleeding Disease Community
Last date: August 1
Amount: $1,000 each (for six recipients)
Eligibility: Students with hemophilia or von Willebrand disease
This scholarship awards six $1,000 scholarships to students in the bleeding disorders community. To qualify, you will need to write a short essay and submit a medical verification.
5. Christian Connection Scholarship
Deadline: May 31
Amount: $2,500
Eligibility: First time as a full-time student at a Christian-focused college, university or college
The prize is $2500. Students interested in applying must first fill out the questionnaire. Entries must be received by May 31. No essay or other information is required to enter the scholarship candidacy.
6. College Raptor Scholarship $2,500
Deadline: June 30
Amount: $2,500 ($1,000 for second place)
Eligibility: 16 years or older and enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education (college, university or trade school).
College Raptor awards four scholarships worth $2,500 each year. The purpose of the College Raptor is to assist students in the college decision process and help them pay for college. To qualify, you must register or log into College Raptor and submit an essay.
7. Delete the cyberbullying bonus.
Deadline: June 30
Amount: $1,000
Eligibility: High school student (9-12th grade student), college student, or graduate student planning to attend an accredited US college or university.
The Cyberbullying Scholarship Deletion Fund is dedicated to raising awareness and eliminating cyberbullying. To apply for this scholarship, all you have to do is fill out the online application form and submit a creative written statement about eliminating cyberbullying.
8. Ethel Hayes Stigmatizing Mental Health Scholarship
Deadline: June 14
Amount: $8,800 (two winners, $4,400 each)
Eligibility: All students who have had mental health challenges or have loved ones who suffer from mental health.
This scholarship seeks to support a more open and honest dialogue about mental health issues. To apply for this scholarship, you will write a short essay about your mental health journey and how it has affected your beliefs, relationships, and aspirations.
9. Foundation Scholarships for First Respondent Children
Deadline: June 15
Amount: $6,250
Eligibility: Biological, adopted, or stepchild of a police officer, firefighter, EMT, Paramedic, or 911 dispatcher.
The First Responders Children’s Foundation Scholarship is awarded annually and is renewable for up to four years. Preference is given to students whose parents were injured first responders in the line of homework.
In addition, applicants must have a bachelor’s, associate, certificate, graduate, or law degree from any accredited college, university, or technical/professional institution in the United States.
10. Future Leaders in Technology Scholarship
Deadline: July 4th
Amount: $2,500
Eligibility: Underrepresented college and university students pursuing degrees in computer science, electrical engineering, or data science.
Every six months, one student wins the $2,500 Future Leaders in Technology Scholarship from Virtasant Inc. The next deadline is July 4, 2022 and the winners will be announced a few weeks later on July 19.
Students wishing to apply for this scholarship must be a college junior or senior and belong to a specific group: African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, Females, and LGBTQA+. An individual also needs to study electrical engineering, data science, or computer science.
11. Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship
Deadline: July 31
Amount: $1500
Eligibility: High school and college students and graduates who are legal residents of the United States.
The merit-based scholarship program aims to help students achieve their dreams of higher education. You must submit 250 words or less of work (a short essay) explaining why you deserve to win the scholarship, your academic/career goals, or any subject of your choice. Winners are selected by a panel based on the best personal statement.
12. HelpTeaching Scholarship
Deadline: June 1
Amount: $1,000
To qualify for the scholarship, you must write a short story or informative article for children. The 400-800 word story must be creative and have good, grammatically correct content.
13. Horatio Alger Professional and Technical Scholarship
Deadline: June 15
Amount: Up to $2,500 each (500 scholarships!).
Eligibility: High school completion and enrollment in a full-time fall program.
500 scholarships are awarded each year through the generosity of members of the Horatio Alger Association. Scholarships are available specifically for students who have overcome major obstacles in their lives to pursue a career or technical education at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution.
14. John Gault Solutions Scholarship for Future Supply Chain Leaders
Deadline: June 3
Amount: $10,000
Eligibility: Enrolled undergraduate students pursuing a major in Supply Chain Management (or equivalent).
The John Gault Scholarship aims to support the next generation of supply chain leaders, expert forecasters and demand planners. To apply, complete the application form, including a 500-750 word personal statement about what motivated you to pursue Supply Chain Management.
15. Michael Moody Fitness Scholarship
Last date: August 1
Amount: $1500
Eligibility: Current high school seniors, undergraduates, or graduate students who plan to enroll full-time at a two- or four-year college or university in the United States.
The Michael Moody Fitness Scholarship is for those who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, participation and leadership in scholastic activities and work experience, and are interested in pursuing a career in health and fitness related fields. Eligibility requirements include a 4.0 GPA (or higher), outstanding achievement details, a list of school and community, and work experience.
16. Ocean Awareness Contest
Deadline: June 13
Amount: up to $1,500
Eligibility: 11-18 years old worldwide
There are two sections: a small section for ages 11-14 and a large section for ages 15-18. Acceptable offerings include visual art, poetry, creative thinking, film, interactive media, and performing arts.
17. Pettable Life Transitions Pet Lovers Scholarships
Last date: August 1
Amount: $1,000
Eligibility: Any junior or senior college student, or recent graduate with a pet owner/lover.
Do you love your pet? You may want to apply for the Petable Life Transitions Pet Lover Scholarship, then! Juniors and undergraduate seniors, as well as recent graduates, who own or have pets, can apply to win $1,000.
To enter, applicants must write a short Instagram comment about what their pet means in life by August 1, 2022. The application must include your name on Instagram and the name of your pet. The winner will be announced on August 31, and the best submissions will also be featured on Pettable’s Instagram page.
18. Probo Medical Scholarship
Deadline: June 21
Amount: $500
Eligibility: Enrollment in an accredited high school, college, or university in the United States.
For those who want to get into the medical field, it is worth applying. You will submit an essay of 1500 words explaining why you want to make healthcare more accessible and affordable.
19. Scholarship Program

Amount: $10,000
Eligibility: 13 or older, US citizen or lawful permanent resident of the US

20. Get involved in a scholarship competition.
Deadline: June 23
Amount: $24,800 (split over 10 ways)
Eligibility: High school students 14 years and over.
For the creative types, you can submit a duct tape prom dress or tuxedo to qualify for this contest. Judging is based on craftsmanship, authenticity, use of colors and accessories, and best use of Duck® Tape. First place winners in a dress and suit each receive $10,000, and eight contestants receive a $500 cash bonus and a $100 Duck® Brand Prize package.
While most scholarship deadlines are in the fall and spring, there are plenty of scholarships with summer deadlines that should not be overlooked.
